Our mentorship programme is for those who want to be involved in sound design aspects of video games.
What are the requirements for entry to the Programme?
Why have Gaming Audio created a mentorship programme?
There's a trite saying that plagues young people searching for a job: "it's not what you know, it's who you know."
The saying's ubiquity is unfortunately due to an age-old truism - and that is that employers are far more likely to look at your CV if they know you first. We want to make the gaming industry as accessible as possible and help young talent connect with experienced professionals.
Our aim is simple: to strengthen the job market and increase the prospects of thousands of young people, breaking down socio-economic barriers and giving equal opportunity to all.
The Gaming Audio Mentorship Programme is free, and that's because we believe that your access to opportunities shouldn't be limited by the money you have.
Anyone can register their interest in the Programme below and sign-up for exclusive updates on future training material; however, to preserve the integrity of the Programme, Gaming Audio requires a referral from a teacher, a university tutor, or your employer before you are connected with a mentor.
How do referrals work?
The referral does not need to demonstrate grade or current level of experience. All we are looking for is confirmation that you have the potential to be a good sound designer in the future. As long as you have some musical ability, no matter how small or limited at the moment, that will be sufficient. Discuss with your referee how best to demonstrate this.
First, we recommend subscribing to our Mentorship Programme News. This will include key information on latest news and events in the Programme and keep you up to date on training materials and jobs. Once you've done this, approach the referee and ask them to complete the form in step 2.
